Thanksgiving is today for those of us who live in the US & it's a day of reflecting on gratitude. While some may or may not have families to gather with, the most important part of this holiday stems around GIVING THANKS !! Gratitude means you are appreciative of what you have over what you do not. It is required to WIN! So take a little time out today and share your appreciation for even the little things. I posted a Reel on Instagram a while back that demonstrated how being grateful for your life is an everyday act. Take a Look! So what are you grateful for? - The Evolution of Networking
Networking is defined as the process or action of interacting with others in order to exchange personal and business related information. The connections you make through networking is extremely beneficial because they can provide you with valuable advice and job opportunities. Building a professional network can play a key role in advancing your career. Knowing the right people can lead to referrals, mentorship, and access to resources and insider information. Networking has dramatically changed over time due to advancements in technology. Social media apps (Facebook, Twitter), professional networking sites (LinkedIn), and business networking sites (Slack, Zoom) have made it easier for people to connect from all over the world no matter the geographical distance. Along with this, the widespread use of smartphones make networking easier and more accessible. Applications like Zoom allow networking conferences to be remote or hybrid, allowing a wider range of people to join and participate. Networking platforms also often incorporate data analytics tools, which can be used to find insights about connections, trends, and engagement metrics. The algorithms in tools such as LinkedIn make it easier to find people you know and recommend them to you. The design of the application allows you to put down more information than you could have on a piece of paper. Emails and phone calls play a key role in modern networking, and now so does instant messaging, video chats, and other real-time communication tools. Although technology has positively impacted networking, concerns about privacy and data security exist. Through the Internet, it is more likely to be approached by fake companies and fraud emails from people who are trying to access your personal information. As a result, it is important to be mindful of the information you share and to verify if the people who meet online have good intentions. Overall, networking is necessary for a successful career path and advancements in technology over time has revolutionized the way we network today. Technology has made networking more efficient, global, and accessible, while also introducing new challenges related to privacy and authenticity. - Read to Your Best
How do you become your best self? That is the question of questions. Many would argue that the answer lies within an individual and with individual purpose. I agree with this ideology. Additionally, I think we can agree that you determine your potential. You mold your best self as well as define it. A few years ago, I went on this journey to begin exploring self-improvement. This consisted of researching various routines involving health and wellness. I came across many methods to establish and improve one’s routine—from journaling to working out in the morning to 75 Hard . My ultimate goal was to improve myself in every aspect. I wanted to feel more grounded, healthy, and mindful. This personal journey led me to hop on Amazon and order many books. We have all been told how much better the book is than the movie; Harry Potter is an example I vividly remember. Similarly, many self-improvement gurus are in favor of reading as a reliable and informative source of knowledge. I read some of Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers and Chris Voss’s Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It . I have a list of additional books I would like to read soon. Some are listed below: Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion Think and Grow Rich The Art of War The Obstacle Is the Way Books as a resource for personal growth provide perspectives and insights into how to alter habits to transform happiness, humility, and security. Through reading some of these books, Chris Voss taught me more about why people make the decisions they do, how to persuade others, and the benefits of mirroring. Malcolm Gladwell taught me the importance of statistics in determining likelihood and how we can make the most of them. Reading is just one step in how we can improve our lives through our dedication and habits. As I continue to make changes in my routine, I look forward to incorporating more reading and more beneficial habits to achieve greater success. Reading just a few minutes or a few pages a day adds up over time. Adjust your habits and create new ones. Please feel free to leave your book recommendations! - Risk or Reward
Is social media actually beneficial? Social media is defined as interactive technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of interests and ideas. Social media can be crucial for new entrepreneurs and local businesses trying to work there way up and create a name for themselves. Companies that create social media platforms can easily develop their brand and reach new potential customers. 77% of small businesses use social media to reach their customers. Small businesses are doing what they can to reach the most amount of users in the cheapest and simplest way, building their social media platforms. 76% of social media users have purchased something they found on social media. This statistic alone proves a valid point, if users are engaged enough with a company on social media they will purchase products directly from their platforms. Social media can contribute to attracting new customers and gain customer feedback. Although customer feedback can not always lead to a positive outcome. Negative reviews or even false or misleading claims can spread rapidly. Social media always ads to be displayed more often because of the variety of social media platforms. It is critical for companies to be sure their message is being perceived in the right way. Consumers watching ads on displayed on their devices can be viewed in the wrong way. For example, in 2017 Dove released their body wash in various sizes just as how women come in various shapes and sizes. Many women were not fan of the idea as they did not want to be reminded by the shape of their bodies. As the body wash came in six shaped bottles women felt their body was being categorized as there is more than six different body types. Dove received major backlash for this ad. As someone who is active on social media, I tend to find videos or images of new products or gadgets. I have also bought products from small businesses or even large companies such as Amazon through a video or ad I have seen while scrolling through social media. On the other hand, I have came across users who talk poorly of certain products or companies which contributes greatly to the reputation of the company. Social media has its benefits and risks. I feel as though it is important for companies with social media accounts to use them cautiously. Each company should have implemented social media procedures and strategies prior to posting in order to implement the best possible outcome for their company.
