  • Mentorship Empowering Generations

My WIN Journey Starting at WIN this semester, I was told early on that I would be assigned a mentor from the Women Into Networking community. With such a vibrant, giving, and supportive community, there could have been no conclusion other than that it was a fantastic opportunity. Learning the ropes from a professional who would look out for me and offer me feedback on my progress was more than I could have asked for! Working with Sarah Luckily, the mentor I have been working with was already familiar to me! Ms. Sarah Curcio, who also guides the entire team of interns, has been working alongside me every step of the way to ensure my success and professional development. She introduces me to Mrs. Ernise Cummings, the founder of Secret Miracles, and we have been working together to help create content and develop my professional communication skills. Among what we have completed thus far are: Blog Posts Facebook Group Management Instagram Reels Lead Generation Strategy More! Intergenerational Knowledge Through this experience, it has become more clear to me than ever the importance of sharing information between generations. While in some areas, I am able to speak better to the habits of Secret Miracles' audience, Ms. Curcio is able to offer her expertise as a professional in public relations. This kind of support and communication only strengthens each of us, and that's a beautiful aspect of mentorship in WIN. It crosses those gaps and connects us to the people who will bolster us and lead us to where we need to go. Connecting With Mentorship If you care about building up your community and helping the next generation to continue to learn and grow, I sincerely hope you will consider mentoring for the WIN team. It's an opportunity to grow and to give back in a way that matters.

  • The Power of Mentorship: Because Someone Took a Chance on Me

There's something incredibly powerful about having someone in your life who has already walked the path you're just beginning to navigate. Mentorship isn't just about advice—it's about perspective, possibility, and growth.  The Power of a Mentorship: Having Someone to Look Up To For me, one of the biggest reasons mentorship matters is simple. It gives me someone to strive to become. When I see a successful woman—especially in the field I want to be in—it shifts something in me. It makes my goals feel more real, more obtainable. It reminds me that success isn't just a distant idea but something tangible I can work toward. Representation in that way builds confidence, courage, and belief in my own potential. But mentorship goes far beyond inspiration! Guidance When You Need It Most A strong mentor provides guidance when things feel uncertain. They’ve faced challenges, made mistakes, and learned lessons that can be passed down— saving you time, stress, and sometimes even self-doubt. Instead of figuring everything out alone, you have somebody who can help you navigate decisions with clarity and intention.  Mentors also help you grow professionally and personally. They challenge you to think bigger, push you outside of your comfort zone, and hold you accountable to the goals you set for yourself. Growth doesn't always come from doing what feels easy—it comes from being supported through what feels unfamiliar and scary.   Building Confidence Through Support Beyond skill and strategy, mentorship builds confidence. When somebody invests their time and energy into you, it sends a powerful message: you are worth investing in. That belief can be the foundation for how you begin to see and treat yourself.   I wouldn't be where I am today without the mentors who have poured their time and energy into me and my success.     A Thank You to the Women Who Guided Me I want to take a moment and thank my mentors, Sarah Curcio and Sakshi Bhati. Both of these women have given me so much more than just advice—they've given me a vision. They've shown me what my life could look like outside of school and helped me understand what it means to be both successful and fulfilled. Through their guidance, I’ve become a more well-rounded professional, and they've helped lay the foundation for my future success. I couldn’t be more grateful that they took a chance on me and chose to invest their time and energy into my growth.  A Reminder to Appreciate Your Mentors If you're reading this, take a moment to thank the mentors in your life. The people who guide you, support you, and push you to be your best. Their time, effort, and dedication deserve to be recognized more than we often realize.

  • A Mentor/Mentee Relationship: How it Changes Everything.

A mentor-mentee relationship is more than just advice over coffee; it's one of the most powerful investments you can make in yourself and someone else. At its core, it's a supportive connection in which a more experienced person (the mentor) guides someone who is learning or growing (the mentee). Built on trust, encouragement, and shared knowledge, it creates space for real growth personally, professionally, and everything in between. How it Changes Everything Mentorship is a turning point. Whether you're a woman stepping into your first leadership role or a man learning to build more inclusive spaces in business, the right mentor can change the entire trajectory of your journey. Here's how: You learn faster A mentor hands you the map they had to draw themselves. Instead of spending years figuring out what works, you gain real-world insight, honest feedback, and shortcuts that only come from lived experience. In the entrepreneurial world, that kind of knowledge is priceless. You grow more confident There's something powerful about having someone in your corner who genuinely believes in you — especially when you don't yet believe in yourself. A mentor sees your potential before you do, and that changes how you show up in every room you walk into. You build a career with roots Mentorship opens doors, yes — but more than that, it builds relationships that last. The introductions, the referrals, the "I know someone you should meet" moments — those are the quiet ways mentorship shapes a career over years, not just months. You gain a friend for life The best mentor-mentee relationships don't end when the goals are met. They evolve. What starts as guidance often becomes a genuine friendship — a relationship built on mutual respect, shared wins, and a bond that outlasts any business plan. The WIN Difference What makes WIN special is the belief that support has no gender. When women champion men and men champion women, something extraordinary happens — barriers come down, perspectives expand, and businesses grow stronger because of it. That's not just mentorship. That's community whether you're here as a mentor ready to give back or a mentee ready to level up, you belong here. Because at WIN, we don't just build businesses — we build each other. Ready to find your mentor — or become one? Join the WIN community today and take the first step toward a connection that could change everything.

  • HERstory feature: Women Overcoming, Sarah Curcio’s Story of Resilience

In the Women Into Networking Community Podcast , Sarah Curcio shared a powerful story of resilience, reinvention, and growth. As the owner of Sarah’s Social Strategy , WIN leader, and Programs Manager, Sarah is known for helping others show up consistently in business. What many may not realize is how much she has overcome behind the scenes. Before entrepreneurship, Sarah worked in the medical field and never expected business ownership to become part of her journey. But after facing serious health challenges including thyroid disease, celiac disease, fibromyalgia, lupus, and myasthenia gravis, she had to rethink her path. At different points, she was in a wheelchair twice and even faced the possibility of losing her eyesight. Instead of giving up, Sarah began researching new ways to support her healing and found strength through holistic care, self-advocacy, and a determination to improve her quality of life. Her journey is a reminder that overcoming challenges often starts with deciding that enough is enough and being willing to try a different path. The conversation also touched on personal challenges, including the end of a long-term relationship during the pandemic. Sarah shared how space, reflection, and stronger boundaries helped her move forward. She also spoke about the importance of knowing yourself, seeking support, and being honest about what you need in difficult seasons. Today, Sarah continues to lead, serve, and grow, while using her experience to encourage others. Her story is proof that resilience does not always look loud. Sometimes it looks like healing, adapting, and continuing to show up. Through the Women Overcoming  series, WIN is highlighting stories like Sarah’s to remind women everywhere that challenges do not have to define you. They can shape you, strengthen you, and prepare you for what is next. Listen to the FULL Episode

  • About Me: Social Media Intern

About Me: Hey! My name is Maile Damon-Tollenaere, and I am a sophomore at the University of Connecticut. I'm very excited to be joining the WINternship program as a marketing and social media intern this semester, and would like to give you a chance to learn all about me! Education: I am currently in my second year at University of Connecticut, getting a dual degree in Art History and Communications. The two majors work hand in hand to prepare me for a career in marketing. My Art History degree has helped me develop my skills in visual and literary analysis as well as the fundamentals of art and design, while my Communications classes have taught me how to express myself and share information more effectively. One of my favorite classes was Persuasion, where we spent the semester developing a campaign to sway people’s minds, which is what first sparked my interest in marketing. Future Goals: As a sophomore, I’m still trying to figure out what exactly I want out of my career. However, I’m currently most interested in working in the public relations or marketing field. With my background and passion for art history, I am particularly interested in working with the museum or art community. Both my majors have given me a strong base of academic skills, but I’m excited to continue building upon within a more professional environment during this internship. In particular, I’m looking forward to the mentorship opportunity that this program offers. Commitment to Community: Building strong relationships, especially with other women is something I’ve valued since I was young. During high school, I was a member of the Women’s Affinity Group. We met weekly to discuss the experiences and hardships we faced as women, and also worked to improve the high school for others. One of the most meaningful projects we did was working to ensure the school was following state law, and supplying every bathroom with period supplies. Now that I’m in college, I’m a member of the Women in Business club as well as Delta Delta Delta, both organizations committed to supporting women in professional and academic environments. I’m so glad to be joining yet another community in WIN. Feel free to catch up with me on my LinkedIn or Facebook !
