Kerrie Muhammad is the CEO of Command the Interview. Kerrie is a seasoned Recruiter and Certified Interview Coach with a hiring-informed perspective shaped by years of evaluating candidates and guiding interview decisions. She currently serves as the head of recruitment and development at a small financial firm, where she built and continues to refine the organization's hiring process and assesses early-career and entry-level talent across multiple recruitment cycles...
Through her recruitment work, Kerrie has conducted and evaluated hundreds of interviews for internships and entry-level roles, giving her direct insight into how candidates are assessed, how decisions are made, and where otherwise strong applicants often struggle to explain their value. Her experience managing high-volume applicant pools has further informed her understanding of what realistic, effective interview preparation looks like in today's hiring environment.
Before transitioning into recruitment, Kerrie spent nearly 20 years as a New York-based prosecutor, where interviewing was a central part of her work. She conducted interviews with victims and witnesses about moments marked by stress, trauma, and uncertainty, developing a disciplined approach to active listening and supporting individuals in finding their voice and the strength to recount painful experiences so their accounts were clearly understood. This work sharpened her awareness of how pressure, unfamiliar settings, and emotional weight influence communication, and it continues to inform how she approaches interviews and preparation today.
Kerrie's pivot toward recruitment and interview coaching was shaped by her service on the District Attorney's Office Hiring Committee, where she saw firsthand how communication skills often determined interview outcomes. She repeatedly observed qualified candidates struggle not because they lacked ability, but because they had difficulty articulating their experience in a way that resonated with decision-makers. That insight continues to inform how she evaluates candidates and inform how she evaluates candidates and prepares clients, drawing on her perspective as both a recruiter and a coach.
Through her work with Command the Interview™ Kerrie offers group workshops and one-on-one coaching designed to help candidates prepare realistically, communicate with clarity and professionalism, and navigate interviews with confidence.
Kerrie holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hollins University.
