HERstory feature: Women Overcoming, Sarah Curcio’s Story of Resilience

In the Women Into Networking Community Podcast, Sarah Curcio shared a powerful story of resilience, reinvention, and growth. As the owner of Sarah’s Social Strategy, WIN leader, and Programs Manager, Sarah is known for helping others show up consistently in business. What many may not realize is how much she has overcome behind the scenes.

Before entrepreneurship, Sarah worked in the medical field and never expected business ownership to become part of her journey. But after facing serious health challenges including thyroid disease, celiac disease, fibromyalgia, lupus, and myasthenia gravis, she had to rethink her path. At different points, she was in a wheelchair twice and even faced the possibility of losing her eyesight.

Instead of giving up, Sarah began researching new ways to support her healing and found strength through holistic care, self-advocacy, and a determination to improve her quality of life. Her journey is a reminder that overcoming challenges often starts with deciding that enough is enough and being willing to try a different path.

The conversation also touched on personal challenges, including the end of a long-term relationship during the pandemic. Sarah shared how space, reflection, and stronger boundaries helped her move forward. She also spoke about the importance of knowing yourself, seeking support, and being honest about what you need in difficult seasons.

Today, Sarah continues to lead, serve, and grow, while using her experience to encourage others. Her story is proof that resilience does not always look loud. Sometimes it looks like healing, adapting, and continuing to show up.

Through the Women Overcoming series, WIN is highlighting stories like Sarah’s to remind women everywhere that challenges do not have to define you. They can shape you, strengthen you, and prepare you for what is next.
