WIN Internship Journey: My Passion for Marketing and Digital Storytelling

Hi, I’m Zarria Montgomery, and I’m thrilled to kick off my summer as part of the WIN Internship Program! This opportunity is especially meaningful to me as someone passionate about marketing and the power of digital storytelling. As I step into this new chapter, I’m excited to share a bit about who I am and what I hope to gain from this experience.
Who I Am: A Glimpse into My World
As a senior at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, I’m currently majoring in Business Marketing—a field that perfectly blends creativity, strategy, and communication.
Hometown: Villa Rica, Georgia
Fun Fact: I’m an only child!
Personality Traits: Independent, creative, and highly self-motivated
Growing up as an only child taught me to embrace independence and find innovative ways to entertain and challenge myself. These traits have naturally guided me toward a career in marketing—an ever-evolving space that thrives on fresh ideas and bold creativity.
Why I Love Social Media Marketing
My favorite aspect of marketing? Social media.
There’s something special about how brands can come alive through digital platforms, and I’m eager to explore that even deeper this summer.
Here’s why social media marketing excites me:
Storytelling Power: Every brand has a voice, and social media gives it a stage.
Audience Engagement: It’s a real-time conversation, not just a broadcast.
Creative Expression: Videos, graphics, captions—all part of a brand’s identity.
Data-Driven Strategy: Behind every great post is smart analytics and strategy.
During the WIN Internship, I hope to gain hands-on experience that will strengthen my understanding of content creation, engagement metrics, and campaign planning.
Beyond the Classroom
While marketing is a big part of my life, I also believe in balance and joy outside of work.
Some of my favorite things to do are:
Cooking: Trying new recipes and flavors
Going to the gym: Moving my body and staying energized
Watching true crime shows: I love how narratives are pieced together—very similar to brand storytelling!
These hobbies keep me grounded and inspired, fueling both my personal growth and creative mindset.
Looking Ahead: Community, Growth, and Opportunity
One of the things I’m most excited about with the WIN Internship is being surrounded by empowered, like-minded women. I know that growth happens best in community, and I’m ready to absorb all the wisdom, tools, and inspiration this network has to offer.
