- About Me: Social Media Intern
About Me: Hey! My name is Maile Damon-Tollenaere, and I am a sophomore at the University of Connecticut. I'm very excited to be joining the WINternship program as a marketing and social media intern this semester, and would like to give you a chance to learn all about me! Education: I am currently in my second year at University of Connecticut, getting a dual degree in Art History and Communications. The two majors work hand in hand to prepare me for a career in marketing. My Art History degree has helped me develop my skills in visual and literary analysis as well as the fundamentals of art and design, while my Communications classes have taught me how to express myself and share information more effectively. One of my favorite classes was Persuasion, where we spent the semester developing a campaign to sway people’s minds, which is what first sparked my interest in marketing. Future Goals: As a sophomore, I’m still trying to figure out what exactly I want out of my career. However, I’m currently most interested in working in the public relations or marketing field. With my background and passion for art history, I am particularly interested in working with the museum or art community. Both my majors have given me a strong base of academic skills, but I’m excited to continue building upon within a more professional environment during this internship. In particular, I’m looking forward to the mentorship opportunity that this program offers. Commitment to Community: Building strong relationships, especially with other women is something I’ve valued since I was young. During high school, I was a member of the Women’s Affinity Group. We met weekly to discuss the experiences and hardships we faced as women, and also worked to improve the high school for others. One of the most meaningful projects we did was working to ensure the school was following state law, and supplying every bathroom with period supplies. Now that I’m in college, I’m a member of the Women in Business club as well as Delta Delta Delta, both organizations committed to supporting women in professional and academic environments. I’m so glad to be joining yet another community in WIN. Feel free to catch up with me on my LinkedIn or Facebook !
- Introductory Blog: Meet the New Intern
Me in Dresden, Germany this summer studying abroad ABOUT ME Hi Everyone and WIN Community! My name is Amy Laudi, and I would love to introduce myself as a new intern working with Sarah and her team on social media, Women Into Networking (WIN). I am currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin--Madison, studying Communication Science and Rhetorical Studies with a certificate in art studio (photography). Planning to graduate this May 2026, I couldn't be more excited about where this opportunity, as well as my degree, may take me. Because this is my first internship, I am nervous yet excited to soak up all the information I can and grasp professional skills. A few hobbies I take on besides photography include my love for fashion. Being in two fashion clubs full of labels such as clothing designers, editors, creative directors, etc. Going to fashion shows and seeing amazing creations from such talent come to life is difficult to put into words. Going hand in hand with my obsession for fashion, I enjoy thrift shopping as well, searching through clothes and putting together outfits, another form of my self-expression of creativity. From being passionate about all things creative, from fashion to art and self-expression, what draws me to marketing is the perfect intersection of psychology and artistry. I find the psychology behind communication fascinating (hence my major!). My goal is to build a career in marketing where I can leverage both analytical insights and creative problem-solving. I believe that understanding why people connect with certain messages is just as important as crafting beautiful and compelling content. - Connecting to Community: Social Media Intern Hannah Graham
About Me My name is Hannah Graham, and I am a senior at Southern Connecticut State University studying Journalism with a minor in Public Relations. This year, I am very excited to be starting my first internship with WIN working on their social media intern team and learning more about the world of business communication. I especially love being part of a network of women who want to uplift and encourage one another to pursue their dreams. Public Relations and Publishing When I began my college journey, I had no idea that I would develop such a passion for public relations. Originally, my interest was in editing both narrative and journalistic writing. I still love to work with the written word and take a piece to the next level. Thankfully, my work as a copy editor for Southern News at SCSU has allowed me to grow that skill and pursue my passion for the world of publishing. I love to edit really because I love to read. So, I keep a collection of pictures of all the errors I can find in the published work I read to stay in practice and remind myself that I can take on the challenge of editing at a professional level. My favorite recent reads were: Everybody Wants to Rule the World Except Me by Django Wexler Uprooted by Naomi Novik The Appeal by Janice Hallet However, after spending two semesters working with Mew Haven Cat Cafe and the Greater Dwight Development Corporation, a nonprofit in New Haven, on their public communication, I grew to love building out a communication campaign as well through social media calendars, writing newsletters and planning events that could bring people together and create meaningful community connections. It’s that same love of community building through shared experience over social media that has me keeping up with the latest in visual media. I love tracking audience responses across platforms and analyzing the choices that the actors and directors make. I just started watching: Stranger Things Heated Rivalry Percy Jackson & The Olympians Those same skills that develop from tracking viewership analytics and community participation are what feed into my interest in communication and marketing for the business world. I really care about finding community through media, and I believe that working in communications allows me to make a career out of connecting businesses to the audiences who care about their mission. Why a Social Media Intern at WIN? It is for that reason that I applied to WIN, where I believe I can gain valuable experience which will help to propel me into the field of public relations. I look forward to learning how to write to a nonprofit’s strengths with newsletters and building a portfolio which will help me to present my resume in a stronger light. Connecting With Me If you care about communications and community building, please connect with me online through Facebook , LinkedIn , Instagram , or TikTok .
- Turning Daydreams into Reality: Starting My Entertainment Career
About Me Hello, my name is Jennifer Tharp! I am a WINtern in the Women Into Networking (WIN) Internship Program and currently a junior at Kansas State University, where I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. My goal is to apply the skills I gain through both my university education and the WINternship to eventually build my own business within the entertainment industry, creating art that connects with people. My Entertainment Path I chose this path because I have known since childhood that I wanted to work in entertainment. Whether it was movies, television, video games, or music, I was always fascinated by the creative process behind the final product. Some of my favorite media right now is: Dragon Age (video game series) Avatar (film series) Dispatch (video game) Fallout (video game series & TV show) I’m especially inspired by behind-the-scenes footage showing the collaboration, planning, and problem-solving that take place before, during, and after production. I often daydreamed about where I might fit into that process, and those thoughts continue to motivate me today. Turning my little daydreams into real projects is an important step toward the career I hope to build. My Creative Outlets My passion for entertainment is closely connected to my love for creativity. Currently, I’m enjoying: Drawing Painting Writing Crocheting I use these outlets as tools for self-expression and growth. Creating art allows me to better understand myself while also gaining perspective on the world around me. I am naturally curious, eager to learn new skills, and motivated by opportunities that challenge me to think creatively. My Career Goals I am particularly interested in how marketing and storytelling can support creative brands and projects within the entertainment industry. I value collaboration, adaptability, and using creativity to make a positive impact. I am excited to continue learning, growing, and exploring new opportunities as I move closer to my goals. My Socials Feel free to follow me on Facebook , Instagram , and LinkedIn as I share my journey, experiences, and creative growth!

- From College to Career: A Journey into Communications
Who am I? Hello! My name is Ella Lauzen, and I'm the new Communications Intern for Women into Networking in the spring of 2026. I am currently a senior at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, with a major in Communications with a specialization in public relations and a minor in Journalism, expecting to graduate this May. While I entered college not knowing what exact career path I wanted to pursue, I trusted fate to bring me exactly where I needed to be, which is where I am today! How College Started My Career Although I began my college journey in 2022, my career path didn't emerge until my sophomore year. In August of 2024, I had my first class in our communications building, Public Relations 101. It is here that I not only learned about the profession, but also about who I could become within the profession. The teacher for that course, Sakshi Bhati, brought out a professional side of me that was dormant before, and it was ready to get started fast. About a month into the course, I knew this was where I belonged, and I immediately switched my major to public relations. How It's Going Since then, I have been an active member of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) led by Sakshi, and have had the most amazing opportunities, from expanding my networking to teaching me hands-on skills. This academic space gave me space to grow as an individual and a professional, and I could never be more thankful for all of it. What's Next? I am so excited that the next steps for me as a professional are going to be working and growing with Women into Networking. This is my first internship, so to have the opportunity to learn from women who were like me gives me hope for my future as a professional. I am grateful to have the role of WINtern and look forward to carrying out what I learn from this experience with me throughout my career. Get To Know Me Even Better! While I am at the beginning of my own journey, I would love to share it all with you. This ride is going to be long, exhilarating, and unforgettable, and I hope you'll follow along! - Not a Straight Line: My Career Journey
Career Journey by Tallita Gouveia I was born with a question mark in my head. There has always been a constant search for knowledge, even without a clear career path like many people seem to have. The idea of a profession was built slowly, through different life experiences. The only certainty I had was the need to find an answer — not just any answer, but the right one for my journey, my future, my career. I needed to discover myself. Leadership Without a Title Many people say that feelings and interests should guide career choices, like an infallible path. Following that idea, I realized a strong connection to friendships, celebrations, and relationships in general. But it was deeper than that, I also noticed a natural habit of being at the center of planning these moments with friends and often taking leadership roles in school groups. Not because of popularity, but because others saw me as someone neutral, observant, and able to communicate clearly with both teachers and classmates. Decisions, Risks, and First Choices With that in mind, I decided to study Cultural Production — a field that combines human understanding, planning, management, and different forms of communication such as art and marketing. During my studies, an exchange opportunity appeared, and I embraced it. After that exchange and my graduation, working with events finally became a reality. However, it also brought a feeling of uncertainty. I felt something was missing. What once seemed like an “infallible path” no longer felt right. A New Direction: Marketing Planning was good, but it was not enough. Short-term experiences were exciting, but I needed more than that. That was when I realized what was missing: strategy, long-term vision, data analysis and not just execution. So combining my academic background and professional experiences, it became easier to understand which career truly suited me, then I transitioned into Marketing. From that point on, I put a great deal of effort and dedication into building a career in this area. And it worked. There were happiness and professional growth. But still, there was a feeling that something was missing. Rebuilding Myself Abroad Over time, it became clear that my exchange experience had changed everything and created a strong desire to live abroad. And maybe with an opportunity, I could build the same career outside my home country, and as I had hoped, another opportunity appeared — this time in the United States, not in Portugal like the previous one. Once again, I chose to take it. Despite challenges such as learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, and rebuilding my life and career, New Jersey slowly became a second home. And here I am: following my heart by choosing a new country and my professional passion. Now, an important step in my international career is almost complete: a new degree in Business Marketing, along with my first internship abroad in Digital Marketing. A Journey in Progress This is the story of Tallita Gouveia — my story — a journey of self-discovery that led me to become a WINtern. So far, this is who I am: A professional with background in Events and Social Media, currently gaining hands-on experience in Digital Marketing through my internship with WIN – Women Into Networking . Bachelor’s in Cultural Production, now in the final stage of an Associate Degree in Business Marketing. Trilingual (Portuguese, English, and Spanish), with strong communication, adaptability, leadership, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work with diverse teams. Technical skills in Digital Marketing such as content strategy, social media analytics, copywriting, and brand positioning, built through hands-on experience. Brazilian with big dreams, always ready to face challenges and pursue my goals. I am still learning, but now with focus, direction, and confidence that every step I took prepared me for what I face today and what is yet to come. I believe each challenge will continue to shape both my professional and personal life. If you want to follow my journey, you are welcome to connect with me on LinkedIn . See you there!
- Meet your New WINtern Allison Begos: Both in Work & Outside
WINtern, Allison Begos All About Me Hi there! My name is Allison Begos, and I am an incoming senior at The College of New Jersey. All three years so far, I have studied Communications, specializing in Social Media and Mass Media with a minor in Marketing, and I have loved it. I am expected to graduate in May 2026 and although I am feeling bittersweet about it, I am excited for this new chapter and what is to come. Outside of School Outside of my education, I am attempting to find more things that I love and hobbies that I enjoy. I am hoping that during my new chapter post graduation, I will have more to add to the list, but for now... My Unfinished List of Hobbies Reading You can find me reading mostly thrillers and mysteries. I prefer something fast-paced. Listening to music I love to make a good playlist! Spending time with people I love I live with twelve of my amazing friends and do not stop talking about every detail of my day-to-day. Trying new shows and movies I typically did not watch much television in the past and actively trying to change that! Cooking As a college student, my skills are limited, but I am hoping to improve. Why Social Media Marketing? As you may have noticed, I am working to go into social media marketing and you may ask why ? Well when I think about life after graduation, I’m really looking forward to finding my place in the world of social media marketing. Social media has always been something I’m naturally drawn to, not just for scrolling, but for the way it brings people together and allows stories to be shared in creative ways. I love how it mixes both strategy and creativity, from planning content to seeing how people actually engage with it. It feels exciting to imagine turning something I’ve always enjoyed into a career where I can help brands connect with real people. While the future still feels a little uncertain, I’m excited to keep learning and see where this next chapter takes me. Follow me on this social media journey!
